About Vazoola

Vazoola is a Connecticut-based white label link building agency that has been in business for 16 years. They partner with full-service SEO agencies to support the backlink-building side of the business, helping those agencies improve their clients' SEO rankings and AI visibility behind the scenes while the agencies focus on the rest of their service offering.

Vazoola's Challenge

As VP of Sales, Solomon oversees lead generation across multiple channels, including outbound cold calling, referrals, organic SEO, and cold email. Email had historically been a strong channel for Vazoola, generating solid response rates and demo bookings through HubSpot sequences and manual template sending. But that changed:

  • Declining email performance - Starting around 2024, response rates and ROI on cold email dropped significantly
  • Deliverability problems - Emails were increasingly landing in prospects' spam folders
  • Technical complexity - Fixing the problem required deep knowledge of domain reputation, lookalike domains, sending volume management, IP reputation, and shared server issues
  • Time drain - Solomon was spending significant personal time researching email infrastructure, taking him away from his core responsibilities
  • Expertise gap - The technical requirements went beyond what his team could realistically manage in-house
"Around 2024 things really dried up and the ROI on our emails just wasn't there. And it was really frustrating. We were getting almost no demos and we were hearing from the prospects we would call on the phone that our emails were landing in their spam inboxes."

Solution

After researching the problem extensively on his own, Solomon set out to find outside help, ultimately deciding to test three agencies simultaneously, including Hypergen, to see who could actually deliver results. Within a couple of months, Hypergen was the clear winner:

  • Fully Managed Technical Infrastructure - Set up and managed all inboxes, deliverability optimization, and email copy, removing the burden entirely from Vazoola's plate
  • Custom-Built Lead Delivery - Built automation that delivers leads and responses directly into Vazoola's HubSpot CRM.
  • Collaborative Lead Qualification - Worked closely with Vazoola to understand exactly which leads they were willing to pay for, staying flexible on billing rather than rigidly charging for every lead or response.
  • Custom Targeting Signals - Used company and job title signals using custom Clay prompts to consistently identify the right prospects and drive results.
Ex. Checking each prospect's website, researching if they have an existing case study where they did SEO for somebody (good fit for Vazoola) and tying that into the email copy.
  • Expanded Multi-Channel Outreach - Proactively built out LinkedIn and Sales Navigator outreach as an additional lead source, even though Vazoola's team was initially hesitant based on past LinkedIn experiences.
  • Extensive Team Support - Daily Slack communication with a dedicated campaign manager. Additionally held consultations with Hypergen’s own sales team to strategize on the best way to handle incoming leads and had custom workflows built by Hypergen’s operations team to support Vazoola’s efforts.

Expanding Into LinkedIn Outreach

After strong early results on email, Hypergen offered to also test LinkedIn outreach - a channel Vazoola's team had tried before without success.

"At that point Hypergen had already built up enough trust with us, and in the first couple of months we were happy with everything we saw. So we decided to give LinkedIn a shot as well, at their recommendation. We're definitely happy we did."

Hypergen managed the entire setup, campaigns, and outreach strategy - unlocking a new stream of high-quality leads on top of what was already coming in from email.

Close to 50% of the monthly leads have been coming from LinkedIn outreach, despite the fact that outreach volume there is a lot lower compared to email (25 connections per day per account)

The low volume restriction allowed for high-priority prospects to be dedicated to LinkedIn campaigns with only the best working copy, where the positive response rate is usually x3-x4 times better compared to email.

Client Experience

"The experience has been great so far with Hypergen. We're on month five or six of this partnership and the quality of the leads has been very high."

The flexibility and proactive, consultative approach of the team built early trust. Solomon specifically valued having the technical burden lifted off his own plate:

"I had just come off of putting in a lot of time and energy into doing the research and trying to fix our emails on our own. I was looking to remove that responsibility from my plate completely, which was already really full."

The day-to-day collaboration has felt like a true extension of the team:

"I chat daily with Philip on Slack, who's managing our campaigns directly, so I'm always 100% up to date on how the campaigns are performing and how they're being optimized. Our company is already fully remote, and partnering with Hypergen has really just felt like they're a direct extension of our team."

Vazoola has also had direct access to Hypergen's broader team for strategic guidance:

"We had a meeting with John, their director of sales, and he walked us through the best way to get in touch with the leads that they're sending over and some of the tactics that he uses personally."

Results

Within 6 months of partnering with Hypergen, Vazoola achieved results that outperformed the other two agencies they tested simultaneously:

  • 10 new SEO agency clients closed - each representing a new recurring revenue stream
  • 29 leads converted into booked demos
  • 30% Increase in active deals in the pipeline
  • Several good leads and open conversations still in progress
  • A consistent, predictable weekly pipeline of new leads
  • Increased sales team morale
  • Selected as the sole partner after being tested head-to-head against two other agencies

"We ended up quietly hiring three different agencies to help us... and within a couple months, the only one we wanted to keep around was Hypergen. That was basically because they had delivered many more leads than the others and at higher quality as well."

Beyond the numbers, Solomon highlighted the qualitative shift in his team's confidence and morale:

"My sales team is just happy overall. They love to see Hypergen notifications in our HubSpot. They know that when they get those leads in, they're high quality and they're also pretty likely to show up to a demo, which is big."

He also emphasized why lead quality matters more than lead quantity:

"It's one thing for an agency to be able to generate a response, but it's something totally different to actually find the right person who fits our ICP and someone who's willing to join the demo, join a Zoom call, and go further down the sales process."

Summing up the partnership:

"Overall, we're finally happy with the ROI we're getting from cold email... It was definitely worth it for us, and so I recommend to anyone to give them a try as well."

Together with Hypergen, Vazoola turned a struggling, spam-flagged email channel into their most reliable source of new recurring revenue, closing 10 new agency partnerships and building a pipeline that continues to grow every week.
